Story Slam - Facing Anger, Facing Fear

    The slam challenge:

In a design context, tell a true 5-minute personal story about anger, accountability, or action. You may not use notes. Of those who register as potential slammers, ten names will be drawn at random. The order of the slammers is the order in which they are drawn from a hat.

During the slam, a chime will alert the slammer when there is 1 minute left, two chimes for 30 seconds left, and an ongoing annoying little chime when time is up.

After each slam, the judges will post scores from 1 (no, no, no) to 10 (oh that was excellent!). Criteria for judging include the teller’s topic, story arc, performance quality, and emotional engagement.

Our 5 judges have been selected for their expertise with the slam topic, storytelling performance, or both. The scores for each slammer will be averaged, with lowest and highest scores dropped. Winners will be announced at the end of the slam. The winner will receive free admission to Interaction Week 2022.

Those who have prepared stories but whose names were not pulled from the hat may sign up for an Open Telling slot later in the week.
